The American Conference Institute (ACI) held its first annual LPO Summit at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York on January 16 and 17, 2008. Speakers and sponsors answered questions about the structure and use of legal process outsource companies, and offered "best practice" solutions for working within a legal services outsourcing arrangement.

 

Delegates from LPO companies, law firms and corporations exchanged ideas on how develop global legal support strategies, what to look for when negotiating outsourcing contracts, and how to optimize ongoing relationships. An article by Anthony Lin in the January 23, 2008 issue of the New York Law Journal sums up the emerging industry quite nicely. Several members of the LPO Network's Board of Editors spoke and/or attended the summit, including Mark Ross of LawScribe, Ed Burke of Bodhi Global, and George Hefferan of Mindcrest. Chris Veator of CPA Global joined a panel of speakers discussing the various LPO models, along with Indranil Choudhury of Lexplosion. Ms. Negroni, LPO Network's Editor-in-Chief, moderated the panel.
